About

The Bude Wellness Warriors has been set up to provide the men of Bude with opportunities to connect with nature and other likeminded warriors. Through group walks, cold water therapy, social events and sharing experiences and educational resources, we hope to provide a supportive and non judgemental forum where men can come together to get some fresh air, explore new places, make new friends and learn about life enhancing techniques that can help them live a happier, healthier and more fulfilling life.

Where did it start?

My name is Steve and after suffering with loneliness, poor mental health and a serious auto immune diagnosis Ive had to dig deep and turn things around using a range of different mind, body and soul focussed approaches.

Following these life wobbles and changing my lifestyle, Ive come to realise how strong the mind and body connection is and how managing each aspect of our lives impacts on our health and wellbeing. My outlook on life has changed dramatically and in order to heal both my mind and body, I’ve had to make big changes in order to keep myself on track. This has meant ditching bad habits and committing to a healthier more balanced lifestyle and to keep me on track, I needed to be surrounding myself with a tribe of likeminded warriors that appreciate and value the importance of community, connection, discipline and healing.

I therefore set about creating the Bude Wellness Warriors, where the men of Bude that want to improve their physical and mental health can put aside the negative, self destructive ego and come together to support each other in becoming the healthiest, most resilient versions of ourselves.

What do we do?

The group organises various wellness based activities that allow us blokes to meet up and make new friends without having to go down the pub. From living in the north east for over ten years I know how hard it is to connect with others and make new friends, so I wanted the group to enable those of us that on a journey of “sorting it out” to connect and offer each other support. Whether its healing from a health condition, dealing with mental health issues, wanting to get fitter, giving up a bad habit or addiction, or simply just wanting to meet new people and make new friends, the group has something to offer everyone.

Activities we run include cold water therapy club every Saturday morning at Bude Sea Pool and Wellness Walks on the second Sunday of every month. We also team up and attend yoga, breath work and sauna sessions, organise group runs, social events and wild camping. We’ve also tried our hand at Ju Jitsu and rifle shooting and are always on the look out for new activities to try.
